Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Virginia Commonwealth University
Arlington, Virginia, United States
Alexandra Rieker, BSN, RN, is a current third-year student in the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Before entering anesthesia training, she worked as a registered nurse in a Surgical-Trauma ICU at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, where she developed a strong foundation in hemodynamic management, resuscitation, and maternal safety. Her clinical experiences caring for trauma and postpartum hemorrhage patients requiring massive transfusion sparked her interest in improving transfusion practices during obstetric hemorrhage.
Ms. Rieker is passionate about evidence-based practice and advancing the professional role of CRNAs in obstetric care. She gratefully acknowledges the guidance and mentorship of her faculty advisor, Dr. Crystal O’Guin, whose support has been instrumental in shaping her academic and research journey.
